The Artifact story begins in 1887 with the construction of a 2 storey Victorian home on a vacant lot at the corner of 8th Avenue and G Street. By 1900, this boarding house was soon incorporated into a larger two-part commercial building with hotel rooms above.

The Blair Boarding House, Oakley Rooms, Lee Hotel were among the monikers employed by various lodging establishments. Sometime in the 1920’s the original Victorian exteriors were ‘updated’ to their current Art Deco style.

Recently remodeled and restored, The Artifact offers guests a re-imagined historic stay, with guest amenities of a modern boutique inn.

The newly renovated buildings feature updated electrical, all new heating and air, new plumbing, rebuilt stairways and access points, improved insulation and finishes, and modernized kitchens and baths.

Additional features include an expanded and enhanced café, and introduction of a garden courtyard for relaxing, outdoor dining, or events.
